Cannondale has preserved the footprint of what it was like for a small village to sprout in the days long before zoning. The Cannondale train station, sits on the branch of Metro North that connects Danbury to South Norwalk. That infrequent schedule, imbues a timeless sense of the past. The old schoolhouse, of course its one room, a general store, a church and some homes, sit as they have for decades tucked between the train line and the hills that begin their ascent from the shoreline.
Stone walls have marked off property for centuries here, and the farmhouses, barns and churches have survived into this century due to the deep respect that Wiltonians have for the land and the beauty and bounty it offers. Cannondale offers winding country lanes and towering trees, ponds, and streams, nature conquered but not vanished.
